Any Kossacks in Paris .......?

This will be a short diary......without a whole lot of substance. But may have some interest to some....

I'm in this most fine of cities for a few days ( if there is such a thing as the perfect city, this may well be it ) and am wondering if there are any other kossacks out there to get together with for a drink or two. Or three.

I've been to France before -- on Army stuff ( it was a tough job, but someone had to do it, so I stuck up my paw and took one for the team. ), but I didn't get a chance to go to Paris. I decided to rectify that after an annis horibillus that I recently suffered through but discovered, when all was said and done, that I wasn't too bad off, and kind of deserved a treat. So I decided to scratch the Paris itch. Being both a fan of this country and having a growing interest in the history of France ( diary on that to follow...pieces are starting to fall in place and if one is a history geek, one knows that feeling. Take for example, I was reading just today on the Communards of 1871 while sitting outside a cafe on Boulavard St Germaine, only to notice, on one of the street adverts, that the Hotel de Ville has an exhibit on that very subject now. And right after  I visit the Catacombs tomorrow I intend to see it --- history geek heaven ).

And Monday I am doing the quinnela -- gonna go up the Eiffel Tower ( I was there yesterday, but way too crowded ) and then immediatly go around the corner to the Museum Of Sewers ( did I mention I was a geek? ) so I can go to the highest point and the lowest point. The same day.

After that, it's all 5eme Arrindossment -- except for a quick return to Les Invalides to get better pics.

The point here, though, is to see if any of you are also in town and want to do some poking around. I'm easy to find --- I'm at the New Hotel Garde de Nord, room 143 in the 10eme Arr. Leave a message or drop by.

But chances are, if you are in town, you aren't checking this site! Took me a couple of days to, so I get it......

Like I said....a short diary of little relevance -- unless one is in one of the 20 arrandosments that make up this fine city. Time differances means it's late and I gotta go soon...but I will check in.

And when I return.....expect a couple of diaries on the history of this great country. Focusing on a parallel I am seeing between the reactionary forces that so strived to destroy the Third Republic and those in America. And succeeded.

Those very same forces are doing the same thing to America now  Republicans are so quick to condemn 'France', but are actively working to achieve their misteps...Vichy was not an accident.

 Toodles......
